We are a community, and we’re happy to have you join us! No matter your gender expression or identity, age, state of fitness, previous knowledge of martial arts – you will find that being a part of Yanagi is easy and rewarding.

We are a modern, inclusive, feminist martial arts school open to all genders and backgrounds. But we also take our Jutaijutsu tradition seriously. We believe that our heritage passed on from Japan via Italy is what provides you with unique opportunities to learn and grow.

Our Philosophy & Courses

We practice a traditional martial art from Japan and focus on regular training, respect, discipline, a meritocratic belt system, self-reflection, and self-knowledge. We believe all humans are equal and welcome members of all genders, ages, orientations, states of fitness, and backgrounds. Are you younger than 12?
Jutaijutsu for kids is fun and will help you get more confident. We are currently working on starting our first kids’ class. Sign up here to get up-to-date info.
Are you between 12 and 16?
Sign up here for Yanagi Youth. You’ll be part of a group your age, but you also get to train with the adults. How cool is that?
Are you all grown up already?

Don’t despair! Sign up here for regular adult classes and train up to 3 times a week.
Interested in dedicated self-defence classes?
We offer specific, limited courses for women, trans, and non-binary folks at regular intervals. Sign up here to get notified.
